DPO as a Service and LGPD compliance for small and mid-sized businesses
Forte Security acts as an outsourced Data Protection Officer (DPO) and leads LGPD compliance for small and mid-sized businesses, from assessment to ongoing operation. We combine legal consulting and information security in a single provider, headquartered in Santa Maria/RS, with presence in Santa Catarina (Florianópolis and Joinville) and service across Brazil.
Instead of hiring and training an in-house privacy professional, your company relies on a team that already knows Law nº 13.709/2018, ANPD guidance and the technical measures that make compliance real day to day.
How it works
- 1
Assessment
We start by understanding how your company collects, uses, stores and shares personal data. The result is a clear picture of your compliance stage and main risks, so priorities are set first.
- LGPD compliance stage assessment
- Interviews with areas that process personal data
- Legal and technical risk identification
- Prioritized action plan
- 2
Implementation
With the plan approved, we adapt processes and documents together with your teams, so the new practices fit the routine and do not stay on paper.
- Data mapping and processing inventory
- Legal basis and Data Protection Impact Assessment (RIPD)
- Privacy, security and retention policies
- Review of contracts with customers, suppliers and employees
- Team training and awareness
- Personal data incident response playbook
- 3
Monthly DPO
After implementation, Forte takes on the data protection officer role on an ongoing basis, following operational changes, new regulations and incidents to keep the company compliant.
- Data subject service channel
- ANPD liaison
- Continuous audit of processing and controls
- Document updates and guidance to teams
Why LGPD + security from the same provider
LGPD is not only about documents. Article 46 requires processing agents to adopt technical and administrative security measures able to protect personal data from unauthorized access and from accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration or leakage.
That is why Forte delivers policy and technical control together. The team that writes the access policy configures access management, and whoever defines data retention also handles backup. Your company does not need to hire two firms or bridge the law office and the IT team.
- Managed firewall
- Encrypted backup
- Multi-factor authentication (MFA)
- Access and privilege management
Who the DPO is
The service is led by Forte Compliance, the privacy arm of Forte Security, with professionals certified as EXIN Data Protection Officer, EXIN Privacy & Data Protection Practitioner, EXIN ISO/IEC 27001 Foundation and DPO LGPD by ASSESPRO-RS.
The appointed DPO is the point of contact between your company, data subjects and the ANPD, guiding employees, receiving complaints and following up on required actions with support from Forte's technical team.
Is my company required to have a DPO?
It depends. CD/ANPD Resolution nº 2/2022 allows small processing agents, such as micro and small businesses and startups, to be exempt from formally appointing a DPO. They must still provide a communication channel for data subjects.
The exemption does not release the company from the other LGPD rules: legal basis, data security, data subject rights and incident reporting remain mandatory. It also depends on case by case analysis and does not apply, for example, to high-risk processing. In the assessment, we review your situation and recommend the best path.

Frequently asked questions
What does a DPO as a Service do?+
It is an outsourced data protection officer. Forte takes on your company's DPO role: serving data subjects, liaising with the ANPD, guiding teams and following LGPD compliance continuously, without an in-house dedicated professional.
Does a small business need a DPO?+
Small processing agents may be exempt from formally appointing a DPO under CD/ANPD Resolution nº 2/2022, but must follow the other LGPD rules and keep a channel for data subjects. The exemption depends on case by case analysis and does not apply to high-risk processing.
How long does LGPD compliance take?+
It depends on company size, data volume and the approved scope. After the assessment, we present the action plan with a schedule agreed with your team.
Do you serve companies outside Rio Grande do Sul?+
Yes. We serve companies across Brazil with remote service, plus presence in Santa Maria/RS, Florianópolis and Joinville.
What is the fine for breaching the LGPD?+
The simple fine can reach 2% of the company's revenue in Brazil in the last fiscal year, limited to R$ 50 million per violation. The ANPD may also issue warnings, publicize the violation and block or delete the data.
